Sustainable-ish Style, Secondhand, Small, Size-Inclusive
Why are guys so hard to buy for? UGH! Every year I work myself up over what to gift Dad, husband, bro, Father-in-Law, and Brother-in-Law. This guide is basically just a compilation of stuff I think they would like. Men are varied and they have their own personalities (lol wild, right!), so you will have to just use this as inspiration, but also many of these gift guides would work for the dudes in your life!
Unlike many gift guides you've seen, these guides feature products from woman-owned businesses, BIPOC businesses, one-person run businesses, and of course a majority local smaller businesses. While Amazon is always an easy buy, finding something special from the wealth of small businesses in the area can be a little trickier! I took the work out of it for you this season in hopes that you will find a way to shop small this holiday season!

These small brands (all women-owned) will help you live out the #princesscore aesthetic of your dreams. You'll find size-inclusive styles here as well as sustainable and ethical practices, because a true princess would make sure her dress was made for her curves without hurting the earth or its people.
It's January...that means Whole30 is here again! I've done Whole30 approximately five times now so I'm compiling a couple resources that I use and have loved if you're looking to do one this year. It always makes me feel better after two months of eating delicious sugary starchy food that makes me feel quite ill to do a Whole30 and get back to moving my body a bit more, but if it's not for you...you know yourself best so you do you, boo!
These gift guides represent the parents, kids, female-owned, Black-owned, POC-owned, one-person-owned, hardworking small businesses making their way in the DMV. I urge you to buy small this year, as small-businesses continue to close and community-members continue to lose their livelihoods. Every time you buy something on one of these guides a person who pays taxes, employs locally, and who lives not far from you and me does a happy dance. These are the people who will remember your name and than you for your 100th purchase, who will be personally upset if something happens with shipping, or who crafted your gift with their own hands. That's something that makes a gift truly special.

However, if you're anything like me, realizing the fact that cloth face masks aren't going anywhere both has you mourning your favorite lipsticks and also secretly excited to have another opportunity to show your face mask style in this new pandemic society we live in!
This year, Catherine Feeney of Fashun Chronicles Podcast (formerly Dreamy Realist) and I threw a Galentine's Day event of our own...disguised as a clothing swap. We based the idea on one of my favorite college traditions, and an idea from Elizabeth Cline's book, "Conscious Closet" AND because Catherine asked me to be a host on her fabulous podcast.

If anyone knows how to throw an amazing Galentine's Day party it's my amazing blogger baes! A few weekends ago The District Queens (Joy, Yaya, Tiffany) threw us an amazing night of friendship, snacks, fun games, and all the pink and red a girl could imagine.
